Ex-Nasarawa lawmaker Haruna Kigbu kidnapped, police orderly killed

Former House of Representatives member, Hon. Joseph Haruna Kigbu, has been kidnapped by bandits in Nasarawa State, with his police orderly fatally shot during the attack.

The incident occurred on Monday, December 2, 2024, around 6:00 p.m. between Nunku in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State and Gwantu in Sanga LGA of Kaduna State.

Eyewitnesses reported that the bandits ambushed Kigbu’s vehicle, engaging in a gun battle with the police escort. During the confrontation, the gunmen shot the officer, who attempted to thwart the abduction.

According to a source, the bandits fired sporadically, causing panic among motorists in the area.

Local villagers confirmed that the incident occurred at a location that has been a hotspot for criminal activities over the years.
