Former Valencia CF player Jose Castillejo has tragically lost his life in the recent flash floods that have ravaged Spain.

The severe storms, known as DANA (DepresiĆ³n Aislada en Niveles Altos), have caused widespread devastation, leaving hundreds of families mourning loved ones as the country grapples with the aftermath.

Valencia CF, where Jose Castillejo began his journey as a youth player, honored his memory in a heartfelt statement: ā€œWe regret the death of JosĆ© Castillejo, a victim of the Dana disasters.

He was part of the clubā€™s Academy until his youth stage and has played for several teams in the Valencian Community. RIP.ā€

CD Eldense, one of Castillejoā€™s former clubs, also expressed its sorrow: ā€œTerrible news comes our way due to the catastrophic DANA. We deeply regret JosĆ© Castillejoā€™s passing at 28, a former blue-and-red player in the 2015/2016 season. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.ā€

Castillejoā€™s football career saw him move from the Valencia youth academy to local clubs, including Torre Levante, Paterna, BuƱol, Recambios ColĆ³n, CD Roda, and Villamarxant.

He played for CD Eldense during the 2015-2016 season, earning recognition as a talented and dedicated midfielder.

The tragic flooding in Valencia has caused severe devastation, transforming the region into what some describe as an ā€œapocalyptic wasteland.ā€

With 158 confirmed fatalities, officials fear the death toll could rise as military forces join recovery efforts.
