In response to the rising hunger crisis, the Federal Government has unveiled the process for Nigerians to access a 50kg bag of milled rice at a subsidized price of N40,000.

To benefit from this program, citizens must present specific documents, including their National Identification Number (NIN), an ID card, and an ATM card for registration and payment.

Once these requirements are fulfilled, beneficiaries must undergo a separate verification process overseen by government officials before receiving their rice.

In Abuja, the process begins at the Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC) where citizens submit their documents.

Afterward, they will head to the Central Business Area near First Bank by NNPC Towers to collect their rice.

Senator Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, acknowledged the challenges of distributing this vital staple.

He assured Nigerians that measures are in place to ensure transparency and fairness, including limiting purchases to one bag per person.

The government will verify recipients using the NIN and phone numbers to prevent fraud.

Kyari expressed optimism that the introduction of 30,000 metric tons of rice into the market will help stabilize prices and ease the burden on consumers.

Distribution will cover states nationwide, but citizens must present the required documents to qualify for the subsidized rice.
