Fire engulfs female hostel at Sokoto University

A devastating fire engulfed a newly constructed female hostel at Sokoto State University on Tuesday, causing panic across the campus.
The blaze, which erupted around 3:30 p.m., completely destroyed the building, which had been recently built to alleviate accommodation issues for students.
While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, a student who witnessed the incident stated, “We don’t know what started the fire yet.”
Fortunately, no students were inside the hostel at the time, as they had already been relocated following a directive from the university.
“The students who were initially assigned to this hostel had been moved to the old hostel. Only the school authorities can explain why,” the student added.
Confirming the incident, the Students’ Union President said firefighters arrived at the scene around 5:00 p.m. and battled the flames.
