Five Policemen die in road accident while returning from Edo election

Five policemen from the Kano State Police Command tragically lost their lives in a road accident on Tuesday while returning from election duty in Edo State.

The accident occurred along the Kano-Zaria Expressway when their vehicle collided head-on with a reversing trailer near Karfi.

Kano Police Commissioner, Salmam Garba, confirmed the unfortunate incident and stated that eight other officers were injured and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Kano, along with the driver of the trailer who survived the crash.

The deceased officers had been deployed for election duties in Edo State and were returning after successfully completing their assignment when the accident occurred.

CP Garba expressed his deep shock and extended his condolences to the bereaved families, praying for strength to bear the loss.

He also assured that the wounded officers are receiving adequate medical care, hoping for their recovery.

“It is unfortunate, we lost five of our officers to a fatal accident at Karfi, along Kano-Zaria Road.

“They were returning from Edo state where they were drafted to maintain law and order during the election.

“About eight of them, including the driver of the trailer are in the hospital.

“Their vehicle had a collision with a reversing trailer,” he said.
