Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Umo Eno, the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State and wife of the Executive Governor, has sadly passed away at the age of 57. She died peacefully in a hospital on Thursday after a brief illness, surrounded by her family.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong, in a statement released early Friday morning.

Mrs. Eno’s passing has left the state in mourning, as many remember her significant contributions and dedicated service as the First Lady. Her legacy of compassion and community engagement will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

1. Early life:  Born on February 22, 1967, in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, Pastor Patience grew up in a devout family that instilled in her a deep sense of service and dedication to positively impacting her community.

She hailed from Ikot Akpa Ekop, a prominent community in Ikpa Ibom, one of the largest clans in Mkpat Enin, Akwa Ibom State.

2. Community contributions: Fondly known as “Eka Iberedem Akwa Ibom,” Pastor Patience committed her life to supporting the underprivileged, empowering women, and enhancing community welfare through charitable initiatives, most notably her foundation, the Golden Initiative For All (GIFA).

3. Advocacy for education: Recognizing the transformative power of education, she made great strides in supporting children’s schooling by sponsoring students, providing uniforms, books, and tuition assistance, thus alleviating financial burdens for many families.

4. Family life: Pastor Patience was the wife of Governor Umo Eno, and their marriage was blessed with six children and nine grandchildren.

She was a key supporter of her husband in the building and management of Royalty Hotel, a thriving conglomerate that includes apartments, catering services, coffee shops, and several other ventures.

5. Legacy of kindness: Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno will be remembered for her selfless kindness and generosity. Her unwavering dedication to helping others showed how one person can indeed change the world, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and service that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
