Gospel musician Aduke Gold laid to rest amid tears in Lagos
Nigerian gospel musician Aduke Ajayi, popularly known as ‘Aduke Gold,’ has been laid to rest amid deep sorrow and tributes.
The burial took place on August 23, 2024, at her Ikorodu residence following a service at the African Church Primary School in Ogba, Lagos State.
Aduke Gold passed away on August 12 at the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Oyo State, where she was receiving treatment for cervical cancer. Her funeral was marked by emotional tributes highlighting her significant contributions to gospel music.
Her elder brother, Aderounmu Ajayi, clarified that her death was due to cervical cancer, not fibroid surgery as previously reported. He requested public respect and prayers for the grieving family during this challenging time.
Gold began her music career in the mid-2000s but gained widespread recognition with her 2021 release, “Nitori Ogo” (“Because of Glory”). The song, from the album of the same name, earned her considerable acclaim on social media.
She was also an accomplished academic, having studied History and International Studies at Lagos State University, and later earned degrees in Child Psychology and Montessori Education in the UK.
Gold was known for her work with children with special needs and her resilience in continuing her music career despite battling vertigo.
