Gov Alia sacks BIEC chairman

Benue State Governor, Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has dismissed Dr. John Chen, the Chairman of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), following recommendations from the State House of Assembly.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, detailed that the governor accepted the Assembly’s resolutions and instructed Dr. Chen to hand over his duties to the Administrative Secretary of the commission immediately.

The Assembly accused Dr. Chen of lacking good judgment in making decisions that would appeal to the majority of stakeholders and criticized his actions in office for falling short of serving the public interest.
