Gov. Obaseki renames Edo State Arena after afrobeats star, Rema
Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has paid tribute to Afrobeats sensation Divine Ikubor, widely known as Rema, by renaming the Edo State Arena in his honor.
The announcement was made by Governor Obaseki on his X account on Thursday.
The newly christened “Rema Dome,” a 6,000-seat facility, had its groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday in Benin City.
Located on the former grounds of Garrick Memorial School along Ekehuan Road, Benin City, the arena is poised to become a major venue for events in the state.
Rema, who hails from Edo State, expressed his gratitude for the state’s continuous development and pledged his support for the project.
“I am incredibly proud of Edo State at this moment. The growth, the unity, and the drive to make our state greater are commendable. I am particularly proud of the youth, and I am eager to contribute to any initiative that empowers and motivates them. This is truly a blessing, and I will ensure this project is successfully completed,” Rema stated.
