Gov Okpebholo dissolves governing councils of Edo tertiary institutions, hospital management staff

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has ordered the dissolution of the Governing Councils of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, and all other state-owned tertiary institutions.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by Fred Itua, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the decision was described as part of measures to reorganize and strengthen the management of the state’s educational and health institutions.

Additionally, the governor approved the immediate disengagement of the management staff of Edo Specialist Hospital and Stella Obasanjo Hospital, both located in Benin City.

The statement did not provide specific reasons for these sweeping changes but indicated that they were in line with efforts to enhance efficiency and improve service delivery in the affected institutions.

“It is hereby announced for the information of the General Public that the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo has approved the dissolution of the Governing Councils of all State-owned Tertiary Institutions in Edo State with immediate effect,” the statement read.

The reason for the dissolution by the governor was not stated.

“Accordingly, all affected members of the Governing Councils of all State-owned Tertiary Institutions are to hand over all Government properties in their possession to their respective Heads of the Institutions.

“It is hereby announced for the information of the General Public that the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo has approved the disengagement of the Management Staff of Edo Specialist Hospital and Stella Obasanjo Hospital, Benin City with immediate effect.

“In view of the above, the Management Staff of the aforementioned hospitals are to hand over all Government properties in their possession to the most senior officer in their various Institutions.”
