Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has appointed Gani Audu as his Chief of Staff, just days after naming Cyril Oshiomhole, son of Senator Adams Oshiomhole, as Commissioner for Health designate.

The announcement was made in a statement on Friday by Musa Ikhilor, Secretary to the State Government.

Audu, a seasoned politician and former chairman of Etsako West Local Government Council, is well-known for his unwavering loyalty to Senator Oshiomhole.

He was also one of the 14 lawmakers-elect who were denied inauguration into the Edo State House of Assembly between 2019 and 2023.

Governor Okpebholo emphasized that Audu’s appointment is intended to drive major reforms across the state.

“It is hereby announced for the information of the general public, particularly the good people of Edo State, that Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved the appointment of Gani Audu as his Chief of Staff.

The appointment takes immediate effect,” the statement read.

Gani Audu, born on August 18, 1969, holds an HND from Auchi Polytechnic, a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from Benson Idahosa University, and an M.Sc. in Intelligence and Global Security from Baze University, Abuja, completed in 2024.

His career includes serving as a member of the Edo State House of Assembly from 2015 to 2019 and as the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2020 Edo Governorship election.
