The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has refuted unauthorized statements reportedly issued by Mr. John Mayaki, a former Chief Press Secretary to the immediate-past Governor, Godwin Obaseki.
Governor Okpebholo clarified that Mayaki does not hold any official position in his administration, warning the public to disregard statements or claims made by him.
In a statement released by the Governor’s Office, Okpebholo emphasized the need for accurate and official communication channels, urging stakeholders to verify the authenticity of any information linked to his administration.
According to Mr. Fred Itua, Chief Press Secretary to incumbent Governor Monday Okpebholo, “these unauthorized statements do not reflect the official position of the Governor’s Office on any matter and should be disregarded.”
“Mr. Mayaki, as a citizen of Nigeria, has the right to express his views on any matter. However, his personal views should not be attributed to Governor Okpebholo.”
“The Governor’s official spokespersons have been duly appointed and announced by Senator Monday Okpebholo. They can be reached through their verified contact information,” Itua noted.
The statement advised members of the public to verify any information attributed to the Governor through official channels only.
