Gov Yusuf presents N99bn appropriation bill to Kano Assembly

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has officially requested the State House of Assembly to approve a supplementary budget of N99,221,503,569.90 for the year 2024.

The request was presented during a plenary session presided over by the Speaker of the House, Ismail Falgore.

In his letter, the governor emphasized that the approval is sought in accordance with Section 122(A and B) of the 1999 Constitution, with the aim of fast-tracking and implementing priority projects that will enhance the well-being of Kano State’s citizens.

Breaking down the proposed supplementary budget, N33,761,174,555.64 has been allocated for personnel costs, N34,492,888,103.44 for overhead costs, and N30,969,440,940.80 for capital expenditure.

He said that ” if you merged the original budget with the supplementary budget, passed into law, it will bring the 2024 budget to the tune of N536, 559, 816, 357.84”

“The supplementary Budget will also be used to Cover New Minimum wage payment,” he said.

While reiterating government’s commitment to focusing on infrastructure development, human capital development, improving the health and educational sector, Shanono stressed that the supplementary budget would also cover the new minimum wage payment, among others.
