Greek singer, Marinella hospitalized after suffering stroke on stage
Greek folk music icon Marinella, aged 86, was rushed to intensive care after collapsing mid-performance at Athens’ ancient Odeon of Herodes Atticus, situated beneath the Acropolis.
The incident occurred during a tribute concert on Wednesday night, with videos captured by the audience showing the singer’s sudden collapse on stage.
Medical reports on Thursday confirmed that Marinella had suffered a “serious vascular stroke” and is currently receiving intensive care treatment.
Known for her six-decade-long career, Marinella remains a cherished figure in Greek music, with fans and well-wishers hoping for her swift recovery.
She represented Greece in the 1974 Eurovision song contest which ABBA won with ‘Waterloo’.
