Gunmen abduct Catholic Priest, Emmanuel Azubuike in Imo

In a troubling incident on Tuesday evening, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Azubuike, the parish priest of St. Theresa’s Catholic Parish in Obollo, Isiala Mbano Local Government Area, Imo State, was reportedly abducted by gunmen.

According to church sources, the abduction took place in the Ayayi community as Fr. Azubuike was returning from a church assignment.

The Catholic Diocese of Okigwe has confirmed the abduction, calling for prayers for Fr. Azubuike’s safe and swift release.

In a statement signed by Very Rev. Fr. Princewill Iwuanyanwu, Chancellor of the diocese, the Church expressed hope for the priest’s quick return, appealing to the congregation for support and solidarity.

Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, stated that the police are actively investigating the case and working to locate and rescue the priest.
