Gunmen attack Governor’s mother, sister along popular highway
Gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked Jumai Kefas, the mother of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, and his sister, Atsi Kefas, on Thursday along Kente Road in Wukari Local Government Area.
Wukari Council Chairman, Dauda Samaila Agbu, confirmed the attack, describing it as “deeply troubling.” He revealed that Atsi Kefas sustained a gunshot wound during the incident and was initially treated at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Wukari. Her condition was stabilized before she was airlifted to Abuja for advanced medical care.
The chairman assured residents that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators and urged the public to remain calm.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Taraba, Usman Abdullahi, also confirmed the attack, describing it as an armed robbery incident. While he could not confirm the victims’ relationship to the governor, Abdullahi stated that one occupant of the vehicle sustained gunshot injuries.
