On Thursday, gunmen abducted three individuals at the Enugu State College of Health Technology, located in Oji River Local Government Area.

The incident has sparked concern in the region.

The Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the abduction in a statement released on Saturdaym

He revealed that upon receiving the distress call, the Oji River Division of the police swiftly responded, managing to rescue two victims. However, three other individuals remain unaccounted for.

He, however, said that vigorous operations are ongoing to locate and rescue them, as well as apprehend the abductors.

According to DSP Ndukwe, a preliminary investigation proves that the victims were driving out of the college when the seemingly targeted incident occurred.

The police spokesperson also condemned a viral video which claimed that countless students were kidnapped at the health college, describing it as false and an act of mischief aimed at misleading and creating panic among unsuspecting citizens.

He said that while the Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has ordered the Operatives to ensure that the missing victims are found and rescued, while also arresting the perpetrators, he cautioned against such mischievous and malicious social media narratives, aimed at creating unwarranted panic and jeopardizing police operational and investigative actions over such incidents.
