Hardship: Man ends it all by hanging in Jigawa
A 40-year-old man has reportedly committed suicide by hanging in Marika village, Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The incident occurred on Thursday, when residents discovered Jibrin Adamu hanging in a classroom at Miftahul Khairat Islamiyya and Primary School Gurdiba.
According to reports, Adamu, a family man, was believed to have taken his own life due to the hardships facing the community.
Police spokesman DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the tragic event, noting that authorities were alerted at around 6:30 PM.
Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer of Kiyawa, under the directive of Jigawa State Commissioner of Police CP AT Abdullahi, dispatched a team to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found Adamu’s lifeless body suspended from the ceiling of the classroom. His remains were subsequently taken to Dutse General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The police indicated that preliminary investigations suggested Adamu had a history of mental health issues, leading him to leave home for extended periods.
An investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances surrounding his death, while his body has been released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic customs.
