A tragic incident unfolded in Oyo State during a rescue operation aimed at freeing kidnapped victims, as a hunter lost his life in a confrontation with the abductors.

The operation, carried out by a joint team comprising the Oyo State Security Network (Amotekun), the police, and local hunters, took place in Alagbede Village, Akinyele Local Government Area.

The deceased hunter, identified as Ojo, was fatally attacked by the kidnappers during the mission.

According to reports, the incident began when a group of armed kidnappers invaded the village at around 1 a.m., abducting Baale Alagbede (the community leader), his wife, and their son.

The assailants swiftly moved their victims into the bush, prompting a rapid response from security forces and local hunters, who mobilized in pursuit of the criminals.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the security team wasted no time in tracking the kidnappers. However, the rescue effort turned violent, leading to the unfortunate loss of Ojo, one of the brave hunters involved in the mission.

But, one of the hunters was killed in the process.

The source told News360 Nigeria that the combined security agents were still searching for the rest of the abducted victims.

In a viral video, the deceased hunter was seen faced down with blood stains on his body.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the State command, Adewale Osifeso said he was yet to be briefed about the incident.
