‘I don’t know’ if election will be peaceful – Joe Biden

President Joe Biden expressed concerns on Friday over the potential for unrest during the upcoming November US election, citing the inflammatory comments made by his Republican rival, Donald Trump.

Biden’s remarks come amid growing apprehension from lawmakers and analysts over escalating campaign rhetoric.

While Biden expressed confidence in the election being “free and fair,” he added, “I don’t know whether it will be peaceful,” pointing to Trump’s history of inciting violence.

Trump, who continues to reject the 2020 election results, had previously claimed widespread fraud and incited his supporters, leading to the infamous Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.

Trump, who survived two assassination attempts this year, has continued to spread false claims of election fraud.

His actions in 2021 led to his impeachment for inciting the Capitol insurrection.

Despite being charged with multiple crimes related to his efforts to overturn the election, Trump remains a central figure in US politics and is actively campaigning for the 2024 election.

Biden, while addressing the issue, criticized Trump’s dangerous rhetoric and its impact on democracy, saying, “The things that Trump has said… were very dangerous.”

Trump, campaigning in Georgia, a key swing state, has continued to stoke tensions, falsely accusing federal officials of mishandling relief funds for Hurricane Helene.

As the 2024 election approaches, the political landscape remains fraught, with Trump continuing to deny wrongdoing and Biden warning of the potential for unrest if tensions continue to rise.
