Prominent human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, has urged the Federal Government to urgently sack the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, accusing him of violating constitutional procedures and disregarding President Bola Tinubu’s directives.

Falana made this call in a statement issued to newsman on Thursday, citing the official Federal Government Gazette, which outlines how the Sole Administrator is expected to function.

According to the Gazette, President Tinubu was quoted as saying, “The Sole Administrator shall operate on the basis of such Regulations that may, from time to time, be issued by me.”

Falana, however, pointed out that, “It is common knowledge that President Bola Tinubu has not issued any Regulation for the operation of the Sole Administrator.”

Despite the absence of such regulations, the Sole Administrator has gone ahead to make new appointments and remove officials previously appointed by Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Falana condemned these actions as illegal, stating, “By treating the orders of President Bola Tinubu with contempt, the Sole Administrator has compounded the illegality of his appointment.”

“The Sole Administrator ought to be removed without any further delay.”
