Ibok-Ete Ibas swears in Prof. Ibibia Lucky-Worika as new SSG

The Administrator of Rivers State, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has officially sworn in Prof. Ibibia Lucky-Worika as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), urging him to leverage his expertise to enhance governance in the state.
The swearing-in ceremony, held on Wednesday at the Executive Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt, is seen as a key step in the administrator’s efforts to stabilize governance and restore public trust.
Speaking at the event, Vice Admiral Ibas described the appointment as a strategic decision aimed at strengthening the government’s commitment to law, order, and effective administration.
“The task ahead is significant, but your track record leaves no doubt that you will excel. Rivers State needs your intellect, resilience, and unwavering dedication. Together, we will write a new chapter of progress for this great state,” he said.
Highlighting Prof. Worika’s expertise in law, policy, and international governance, the administrator expressed confidence that the new SSG would play a critical role in aligning government policies with the administration’s objectives of stability and democratic governance.
He further emphasized the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, calling on civil servants to collaborate with the new SSG for effective administration.
“You have no time to settle down. You must roll up your sleeves and get to work with the team. Our civil servants are critical stakeholders, and we must work with them to ensure that the state continues to function effectively,” Ibas added.
The administrator also called on permanent secretaries and civil servants to support the administration’s vision as they work towards achieving their objectives in Rivers State.
