Iluyomade drama ends as RCCG names ex-BOI boss as City of David Pastor

After months of controversy, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has appointed Pastor Kayode Pitan, former Managing Director of the Bank of Industry (BOI), as the Senior Pastor of the City of David Parish in Lagos.

This appointment follows the suspension of the former Senior Pastor, Idowu Iluyomade, who faced allegations of corruption and refusal to comply with a transfer order. Pastor Charles Kpandei had been temporarily leading the parish since Iluyomade’s suspension.

Although Pastor Pitan’s appointment was not announced during the recent national convention, insiders confirmed that his promotion marks the end of Iluyomade’s tenure at the parish. Pitan was selected for his extensive corporate experience, which is expected to aid in the management of the Trinity Tower Project as he leads the church.

While Iluyomade has not publicly commented on the leadership change, sources indicate that he is uncomfortable with the decision, and it remains uncertain whether he will continue with the RCCG.

Pastor Kayode Pitan will now serve as the Pastor-in-charge of Region 20, with the City of David as its headquarters. Pastor Ben Akabueze has been appointed as the Assistant Pastor.
