Israel strike rocks Iranian TV Station during live broadcast

Iran has denounced Israel’s recent missile strike on the state-run Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) headquarters in Tehran, describing it as a “war crime.”
The attack, which took place on Monday during a live broadcast, cut off transmission abruptly as a presenter delivering commentary against Israel was seen fleeing the studio.
The country’s foreign ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, condemned the incident, calling it a “wicked act” and urging the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to intervene immediately. “The UNSC must act now to stop the genocidal aggressor from committing further atrocities against our people,” Baqaei said in a statement.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also reacted, labelling the assault as “inhuman, criminal, and a terrorist act.” Despite the disruption, live coverage resumed shortly after the strike.
Tensions between both countries have escalated rapidly since Israel launched a surprise offensive on Iran last Friday, claiming to be targeting nuclear and military facilities. So far, over 224 people, including top military officers, nuclear scientists, and civilians, have lost their lives in Iran.
Iran has since retaliated with waves of missile and drone attacks, killing at least 24 people in Israel according to figures released by the Israeli prime minister’s office.
Iran, which does not recognise the state of Israel, has long accused it of orchestrating sabotage and assassinations of its scientists linked to the country’s nuclear program.
The unfolding hostilities have raised global concerns about a wider Middle East conflict, with calls mounting for immediate de-escalation.
