A fire broke out at one of the most popular markets in Abuja, Kaura Market, which is situated opposite the Prince and Princess Estate on Friday night.

The blaze, which ignited around 11 p.m., ravaged approximately 40 shops before it was eventually contained.

The cause of the fire remains unclear as of now.

Efforts to reach key officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration were unsuccessful at the time of this report.

Nkechi Isa, the Spokesperson for the FCT Emergency Management Department, was also unable to confirm the details immediately but assured that further information would be provided.

Reports from the scene indicate that traders expressed frustration over the delayed response of the FCT Fire Service, which they believe allowed the fire to spread, resulting in significant losses.
