Ten out of the 13 governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have convened at the Enugu State Government House for an important meeting of the Governors Forum scheduled for Wednesday.

The governors in attendance include Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Umo Eno of Akwa-Ibom, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Godwin Obaseki of Edo, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Ahmed Fintiri of Adamawa, Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, and host governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State.

The meeting, which will be preceded by a Gala and cultural night, has an agenda that remains undisclosed.

However, sources close to the matter revealed that Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Umar Damagum, and other key party leaders are expected to join the governors at the Enugu parley.

The governors are likely to deliberate on the organization of successful state congresses nationwide on July 27, preparations for the upcoming off-season governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States, and implications of the recent Supreme Court judgment granting financial autonomy to Local Governments. Additionally, they will discuss the issue of mass defections of top party members in Imo and Abia states, including the recent defection of former Senate President Sen. Pius Anyim and others to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

As of the time of filing this report, the governors of Osun, Ademola Adeleke, and Bayelsa, Douye Diri, have yet to arrive.
