Kano Hisbah bans sports betting
The Kano State Hisbah Board has announced a ban on all forms of sports betting as part of its intensified efforts to combat immorality in the state.
This was disclosed by the board’s Deputy Commander-General, Dr. Mujaheed Aminuddeen, during a press briefing on the renewed ‘operation flush out immorality.’
Dr. Aminuddeen outlined various new regulations aimed at restoring discipline, including restrictions on courtship practices, prohibiting prospective couples from sitting in tinted vehicles at night.
Hisbah also plans to arrest landlords who rent out apartments to unknown individuals, with concerns over residential spaces being used as lodges and motels.
Additional rules include the arrest of female beggars found outdoors late at night and a crackdown on young women seen in tricycles after 10 PM, in response to rising prostitution rates.
The Hisbah has warned that violations of these rules will result in stiff penalties, urging parents to be vigilant about their children’s behavior to avoid breaking the law.
The board’s actions aim to curb what it sees as growing moral concerns in Kano, with a firm message to the public about compliance with these new directives.
