Kidnapped Kogi traditional ruler regains freedom after days in captivity

Oba Dada Ogunyanda, the traditional ruler of Okoloke community in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, has regained his freedom after spending 27 days in captivity.

The chairman of Yagba West LGA, Tosin Olokun, confirmed the monarch’s release on Wednesday in Lokoja.

Oba Ogunyanda, who holds the title of Obalohun of Okoloke, was abducted from his palace during the early hours of May 15 at around 2:00 a.m.

His kidnapping sparked concern across the region and led to intense calls for his safe return.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Sunday Adeyemi, the Yagba West Local Government chairman said that the monarch has since rejoined his family and is receiving medical attention.
