Lewandowski hits 100-Goal mark as Barcelona end season with victory against Bilbao

Barcelona capped off their title-winning La Liga campaign in style with a commanding 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
The highlight of the night was veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, who netted twice to surpass the 100-goal milestone since joining the Catalan side in 2022.
The 36-year-old Polish forward ended the league season with 27 goals, finishing behind Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe, who claimed the top scorer’s award with 31 goals.
Barcelona wrapped up a memorable domestic treble this season, having also lifted the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup titles.
Athletic Bilbao, despite the defeat, celebrated a solid campaign of their own, securing a return to the UEFA Champions League for the first time in 11 years.
The match also marked an emotional farewell for Athletic’s long-serving defender Oscar de Marcos, who made his 570th and final appearance for the club.
Only legendary goalkeeper Jose Angel Iribar, with 614 games in the 1960s and 70s, has featured more for the Basque side.
Lewandowski opened the scoring with a clever chip over goalkeeper Unai Simon after receiving a pass from Fermin Lopez, a goal that also marked Barcelona’s 100th in La Liga this season.
Just three minutes later, the striker doubled the lead, heading home at the back post after a corner was flicked into his path.
Barcelona continued to press in the second half, with Lewandowski missing two chances to complete a hat-trick.
Inaki Pena produced a sharp save to prevent an own goal after a deflection from Pau Cubarsi, while young talent Lamine Yamal forced Unai Simon into a smart stop at his near post.
The third goal came in stoppage time when Dani Olmo earned a penalty and calmly converted to seal a convincing win for the champions.
