Mama G reveals why Nollywood stars are dying
Renowned actress Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, has voiced her concerns about the troubling trend of untimely deaths among Nollywood stars, attributing it to negligence and carelessness.
In a recent interview in Lagos, the veteran actress expressed her worry that actors often prioritize their work over their health. “When you’re deeply engrossed in something you love, you tend to neglect your health,” Mama G stated. “Some are so careless that instead of seeking proper medical attention when sick, they opt for over-the-counter remedies. It’s a dangerous trend.”
Mama G shared her emotional experience at the funeral of the late comic actor John Okafor, known as Mr. Ibu. “When I approached his body and called his name, expecting a response that never came, I broke down. It dawned on me that he was truly gone,” she recalled tearfully.
She urged her colleagues to prioritize their health, emphasizing the importance of regular medical check-ups and cautioning against habits detrimental to well-being.
Reflecting on her personal journey, Mama G recounted a transformative encounter with God in 2016 that led her to embrace evangelism. “I received a divine call to serve Him,” she explained. “Initially hesitant, I eventually committed myself to a period of separation and spiritual reflection, which profoundly changed my life. Since then, I’ve been called to share my testimony and minister to others.”
Mama G’s insights into health and spirituality highlight her commitment to raising awareness within the entertainment industry and beyond, urging a balance between career pursuits and personal well-being.
