Man arrested over murder of octogenarian father in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 24-year-old man, Liman Muhammad Baba, over the alleged murder of his 80-year-old biological father, Malam Baba Siti, during a violent confrontation.
The heartbreaking incident reportedly occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday in Uzum village, situated in Giade Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Spokesperson for the command, SP Mohammed Wakil, disclosed the development in a visual interview with News360 Nigeria.
According to him, the local police division in Giade was alerted via a distress call made by a concerned resident.
Following the report, the Commissioner of Police in Bauchi, Auwal Sani Omolori, promptly instructed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Giade to carry out a thorough and discreet investigation into the matter.
“Detectives from the division promptly visited the scene and found the victim lying in a pool of blood. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect struck his father on the head with a stick, causing him to collapse and die on the spot,” Wakil said.
The victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Giade, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead on arrival.
It was gathered that during the altercation, Liman allegedly hit his father with a stick, leading to his immediate collapse and loss of consciousness.
Wakil added that the suspect was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody.
He noted that a thorough investigation is ongoing and that the suspect will be charged to court upon its conclusion.
