Man United target Nigerian star, Boniface
Manchester United have entered the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Nigerian striker Victor Boniface, potentially sparking a transfer showdown with Chelsea.
Boniface, 23, has been in stellar form since joining Leverkusen in 2023, helping them to a historic Bundesliga title with 21 goals and 10 assists in his debut season.
His impressive start to the current campaign, seven goals and five assists in eight Bundesliga matches, has only increased interest from top European clubs.
Both Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly prepared to meet Leverkusen’s asking price, estimated between €60 million and €80 million.
Despite United having recently signed strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, they see Boniface as a key addition to boost their attack.
Chelsea, who have been actively seeking a world-class striker, are similarly keen on the Nigerian forward, as he fits their strategy of targeting young, top-tier talents.
Boniface’s current contract with Leverkusen runs until the summer of 2028, putting the German club in a strong negotiating position. The striker himself appears to be in no rush to leave, focussing on his performances for Xabi Alonso’s side.
As the January transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on the Nigeria international’s future, with both Manchester United and Chelsea poised to make a move for one of European football’s most exciting young talents.
