Manchester United have made significant progress towards signing Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), with a deal now in place according to multiple sources.

The move comes as part of United’s strategic plan to strengthen their midfield following the anticipated departure of Casemiro and the desire to inject youth into the squad.

Details of the Transfer

– Initial Fee: €50 million (£42.2 million)

– Potential Add-Ons: The total deal could rise to €60 million (£50.7 million) depending on performance-related bonuses.

– Financing: The transfer will be partially funded by Scott McTominay’s imminent move to Napoli, which is valued at €30 million (£25.3 million).

Ugarte, a 23-year-old Uruguayan, has been highly sought after due to his impressive performances, particularly in the Copa America, where he was named in the team of the tournament. Despite his high profile, his time at PSG has not met expectations, leading the club to consider his sale.

Manchester United’s pursuit of Ugarte was prioritized over other options such as Sofyan Amrabat, Sander Berge, and Youssouf Fofana. The deal represents United’s fifth signing of the summer following Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui.

Ugarte is expected to travel to England on Tuesday to complete his medical examination, after which the clubs will make an official announcement. This acquisition is viewed by United as a strategic enhancement to their midfield, with Ugarte considered one of the top young talents in the game.
