Manchester United endured a crushing 3-0 defeat against their arch-rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday, compounding the misery of their recent performances in the Premier League.

United, who had been unbeaten in their last three encounters with Liverpool, came into the match hoping to bounce back from a disappointing 2-1 loss to Brighton at the Amex Stadium the previous weekend.

However, their hopes were dashed early on, with Liverpool capitalizing on two costly errors by Casemiro to take control of the game.

Luis Diaz was the star of the first half, netting a brace that left United trailing by two goals at the break.

The Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, who had a torrid time on the pitch, was booked during the interval and subsequently replaced by Toby Collyer as Erik ten Hag sought to change the course of the game.

Despite the change, Liverpool continued to dominate and put the game beyond United’s reach in the second half.

Mohamed Salah, ever the thorn in United’s side, scored the third goal to seal the victory for the visitors and hand United a heavy defeat in front of their home fans.

This loss is a significant blow for Manchester United, who have struggled for consistency this season.

After scraping past Fulham and suffering a loss to Brighton, this latest setback against Liverpool highlights the challenges facing the Red Devils as they look to regain their form in the Premier League.
