Major labels and independent record labels are the two types of labels that exist.

Mavin Records, also known as Mavins, is a well-known Nigerian record label that has had a big impact on the continent’s music scene.

2. YBNL (Yahoo Boy No Laptop)

Yahoo Boy No Laptop Records, or YBNL Records, is a well-known record label in Nigeria that has made significant contributions to the country’s music scene, especially in the hip-hop and Afrobeat genres.

Since its founding in 2012 by Olamide Adedeji, better known by his stage name Olamide, YBNL has grown to be a significant force in the Nigerian music industry.

Many successful Nigerian artists, such as Adekunle Gold, Vector, Chinko Ekun, Dj Enimoney, Lil Kesh, and Fireboy DML, got their start thanks to YBNL Records.

These musicians’ distinctive styles and number-one hits have earned them praise and recognition.

They were not only a nominee but also the winners of the 2015–2016 Best Record Label Award.

3. Jonzing World records

Since its founding, Nigerian record label Jonzing World Records has caused quite a stir in the music business.

The gifted musician and songwriter D’Prince founded Jonzing World Records, which is connected to Mavin Records, another well-known Nigerian label.

Though this record label may not be well known to many, it is among the best and greatest in the business, providing young Nigerians with excellent opportunities to compose, record, and release new music for the enjoyment of music mp3 lovers and enthusiasts worldwide.

4. DMW (Davido Music Worldwide)

Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) is a well-known Nigerian record label and entertainment company that has shaped the Nigerian and Afrobeat music landscapes.

Established in 2016 by David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known by his stage name “Davido,” DMW has become a household name thanks to its breakthrough hits and ability to find up-and-coming talent.

Beneath Davido’s guidance and vision, the record labels have signed and supported a number of exceptional artists, including Mayorkun, Dremo, Peruzzi, and Yonda, Idowest, Danagog, Deinde, Dj Ecool, and B-red, among others.

DMW was nominated in 2016 and went on to win the Beatz and City People Music award three times in a row (2017–2019) for record label of the year.

5. Chocolate City Music

Chocolate City Music Group is a well-known Nigerian record label and entertainment company that has made a lasting impact on the African music industry.

Chocolate City, founded in 2005 by lawyer and entrepreneur Audu Maikori, Paul Okeugo, and Yahaya Maikori, has played an important role in promoting and developing Nigerian music talent.

MI Abaga, Ice Prince, Jesse Jagz, and Brymo, among others, have all released music under the label.

In 2011, Ice Prince became the first African rapper to win a BET award for this label.

Furthermore, the album with the highest sales on iTunes, MI’s album ‘Chairman,’ brought additional fame to Chocolate City.

In 2007, Chocolate City was the first label to receive a global music award and recognition from the British Council, international young music entrepreneur of the year (IYMEY).

6. Marlian Music

Marlian Record Label is one of Nigeria’s most successful music record labels.
In 2020, controversial musician Azeez Fashiola, also known as Naira Marley, founded the Marlians record label.

As the CEO of Marlian Records, Naira Marley has signed a number of up-and-coming Nigerian musicians to his record label. He took this action to develop their budding talents and introduce them to the public.

Among the young, up-and-coming musicians signed to the Marlians Music Record Label are Mohbad and Zynoleesky.

One kind of record label that has assisted some up-and-coming young artists in becoming well-known is Marlians MP3 Central.

The death of one of Marlian’s signees, known by his stage name “Mohbad (Imole),” has rocked the world and got everyone talking, but everything is still under control as the record label fights to make any necessary changes and return to the scene.

7. Starboy Entertainment

Grammy winner Wizkid founded this record label in 2013, shortly after leaving the popular Nigerian singer Banky-W’s empire mates entertainment.

It was named after the hit album he released in 2016.Wizkid stated that the label was founded with the goal of promoting or nurturing emerging talent in Nigerian society.

Some of the artists on the Starboy crew include L.A.X, Efya, R2Bees, Maleek Berry, Legendary Beatz, Terri, and others.

8. Five Star Music

With significant assistance from well-known Nigerian billionaire Emeka Okwonkwo, better known by his stage name E-Money, and his considerable wealth and music industry acumen, the five-star record label reached the A-list with numerous contributions from well-known Afrobeats artist Kcee.

His well-known hit song “Limpopo” increased the company’s level of international recognition.

Other celebrities who made contributions included Skibii and Harrysong. But after several hit party songs, the latter left the group.
