Meet Abubakar Dantsoho, new NPA Boss

Abubakar Dantsoho was named Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) by President Bola Tinubu on Friday 12th July, 2024.

Dr. Dantosho is a seasoned politician, journalist, and lawyer who previously served as the senator from Ekiti South Senatorial District and as the minister of state for works.

Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho graduated with a B.Sc. from the esteemed University of Maiduguri, an M.Sc. in International Transport from the esteemed University of Wales, Cardiff, UK, and a PhD in Maritime Technology from the esteemed Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom.

He had worked for the Nigerian Ports Authority in a number of capacities prior to being appointed, including assistant general manager, principal manager of tariff and billing, port manager of one port, and technical assistant to the managing director.

With expertise in maritime technology, ports management and operations, logistics, business, and strategic planning, as well as research and studies with international organizations like the World Bank and Crown Agent UK, Dantsoho has been in the maritime industry for well over twenty-five (25) years.

He also held the position of Port Manager at Rivers State’s Onne Port.

Dr. Dantosho is a Muslim and is happily married with children.
