Meet Badamasi Lawal, new NSIPA boss

News360 Nigeria chronicles in this post, the profile of Badamasi Lawal, new CEO of  the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).

Badamasi Lawal has been appointed as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).

The new NSIPA boss is a former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs in Katsina State.

Lawal will replace Halima Shehu, the former CEO of NSIPA, who was suspended by the president over alleged financial malfeasance.

Badamasi Lawal’s profile

Badamashi Lawal Charanchi, PhD, was born on 15th June, 1960 in Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

In 1984, he obtained a Nigeria Certificate in Physical and Health Education from College of Education, Kafanchan.

He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical and Health Education from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, from 1985 to 1987.

Lawal went further to obtain a Master’s Degree in Health Education from the University of Lagos and a Doctorate Degree in Education from Bayero University, Kano, respectively.

He is currently an Associate Professor in Health Education and has had to his name a total number of forty-eight (48) publications.

He was the Chairman of Katsina State, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency in 2005.

In 2008, Lawal was elected as chairman of Charanchi Local Government Area and was reelected in 2011.

Badamasi served as a member of the Katsina State Transition Committee and State Coordinator of General Muhammadu Buhari Campaign in 2015.

He served as Special Adviser to Katsina State Government on Higher Education from 2015 to 2017 before subsequently being appointed as Honourable Commissioner of Education from 2017 to 2023.

As a sports lover, Badamasi held numerous medals in hockey. He was a Gold Medalist in Hockey Event, ‘NATCEGA 1982, and Silver Medalist in Hockey Event, ‘NATCEGA 1984.

He attended National Camp in Hockey Event 1980 in Oyo state, Ibadan.

In August 2024, President Bola Tinubu named him as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).
