Minimum wage: Tinubu in crucial meeting with labour leaders in Abuja

President Bola Tinubu is currently in a pivotal meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The discussions are centered around finalizing the new minimum wage agreement.

Leading the labour delegation are NLC President Joe Ajaero and TUC President Comrade Festus Osifo.

This meeting follows last week’s discussions, where President Tinubu emphasized the need for better wages, improved welfare, and safer working conditions for Nigerian workers.

President Tinubu assured that his administration is dedicated to devising a wage structure that meets the expectations of all parties involved.

On the other hand, the labour unions are standing firm on their demand for a minimum wage of N250,000, in contrast to the federal government’s proposal of N62,000.

Following last week’s Federal Executive Council meeting, Information and National Orientation Minister Mohammed Idris informed reporters that President Tinubu would continue consultations with labour leaders to reach a consensus.
