Ministry of Regional Development to oversee NDDC, NEDC, SEDC, others
President Bola Tinubu has announced the creation of the Ministry of Regional Development, which will oversee key regional development commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), North East Development Commission (NEDC), and South East Development Commission (SEDC), among others.
This decision was made during a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The President also directed that the newly established Sports Commission will be responsible for all sports activities, taking over duties from the now-dissolved Ministry of Sports Development.
This restructuring also affected the Ministry of Tourism, which has been merged into the Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, confirmed these changes during a briefing with State House correspondents after the FEC meeting.
