Nigerian music icon Oladapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’Banj, paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the State House on Thursday.

The visit was made public by the governor’s Special Assistant on New Media, Jubril Gawat, who shared a video of the encounter on X.com (formerly Twitter).

The video captures the vibrant interaction between the renowned artist and the governor, reflecting D’Banj’s ongoing engagement with the state’s leadership.

While the details of their conversation were not fully disclosed, such visits often provide an opportunity for prominent figures in entertainment to discuss ways to collaborate with the government on initiatives that benefit the community, particularly in areas such as youth development, culture, and the arts.

D’Banj, a celebrated figure in the Nigerian music industry, has been known for his influence and contributions to the growth of Afrobeats.

His visit to Governor Sanwo-Olu highlights the ongoing connection between the entertainment sector and governmental efforts to enhance cultural and social initiatives within Lagos State.

Gawat’s caption read, “Between Governor #jidesanwoolu and #iamdbanj earlier today.

“Dbanj called Mr. Governor ‘the real Koko Master.”

The visit comes ahead of the launch of his new album, “The Entertainer: D’Sequel”, scheduled for release on Friday.

During the visit, D’Banj was said to have presented a commemorative plaque marking the album’s launch to Sanwo-Olu.

“The Entertainer: The Sequel” is reported to be a follow-up to D’banj’s recent release, “Koko,” and continues to build on the momentum of his previous track, “Since’04,” which commemorated his 20-year journey in the music industry.
