NIA Director General Ahmed Rufai Abubakar resigns from Tinubu’s Gov’t
Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the Director General of the Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA), has resigned from his position.
He tendered his resignation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Abubakar was appointed as the substantive Director General of the NIA in 2018 by former President Muhammadu Buhari. Before his appointment, he served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations.
A retired career Foreign Service officer, Abubakar has had a distinguished career, including extensive experience with the United Nations. His work with the UN focused on peace support operations, mediation, preventive diplomacy, and promoting good governance, human rights, and the rule of law.
