Established in 1967, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps is a paramilitary organization tasked with providing security against threats, attacks, and natural disasters.

They collaborate effectively with the Nigerian Police Force to safeguard people and their belongings while upholding law and order in the community.

NSCDC Ranks

Within the NSCDC, officers are categorized into two groups: commissioned officers, who hold high-ranking positions and are regarded as senior officers, and non-commissioned officers, who are regarded as junior officers and hold lower ranks.

Commissioned officers;

  • Deputy Commandant General of Corps (DCG)
  • Assistant Commandant General of Corps (ACG)

Non-commissioned officers;

NSCDC Salary

The Consolidated Naval Salary Structure (CONNESS), which was implemented in 2017, serves as the foundation for the Civil Defense pay scale.

A commission and non-commissioned officer’s pay is determined by their category, years of service, and qualifications.

₦88,035 is the average monthly salary for a level 8 officer (a graduate in Civil Defence).

Commissioned officers;

  • Commandant General: ₦305,332
  • Deputy Commandant General: ₦225,290
  • Assistant Commandant General: ₦205,380
  • Chief Commander: ₦163,857
  • Deputy Commander: ₦152,132

Non-commissioned officers;

Assistant Commander: ₦117,121

Chief Superintendent of Corps: ₦104,377

Superintendent of Corps: ₦104,337

Benefits and allowances;

Alongside their basic salary, the officers of the NSCDC are placed on special allowances by the government.

The government provides the following allowances to the NSCDC:

  • Transportation Allowance
  • Health Allowance
  • Uniform Allowance
  • Operation Allowance
  • Special Force Allowance.
