Nigeria would have been better under Peter Obi: Sen Abaribe
Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South, has expressed that Nigeria would have fared better had Labour Party candidate Peter Obi won the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Abaribe accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of nepotism, claiming such practices would have been absent under Obi’s leadership.
“If Peter Obi had won, you probably would have seen a better Nigeria than what we are seeing today. Number one, he would not be as nepotistic as this government, it’s not in him,” Abaribe stated.
The senator also criticized Tinubu’s decision to appoint four ministers from Ogun State, describing it as a clear example of favoritism. He advised the South-East region to focus on self-driven development rather than relying on federal fairness.
Abaribe welcomed the recent arrest of Simon Ekpa, a controversial figure in the Biafran independence movement, and advocated for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), suggesting it would help restore peace in the South-East.
The senator’s remarks highlight ongoing tensions surrounding regional representation and the need for equitable governance in Nigeria.
