Nigerian Navy ranks and salary structure, 2024

The Nigerian Navy is the only regulatory body tasked with guarding Nigeria’s economic exclusive zone and its territorial waterways.

There are 18 ranks in the Nigerian Navy overall, split into two groups.

Salary allocation for these categories is based on years of service and educational attainment.

Before deciding to pursue a career in the naval force, many frequently want to know the pay cheques for each rank.

Nigerian Navy Ranks

There are two district cadres within the Nigerian Navy ranks.

The two categories of officers are non-commissioned and commissioned.

Commissioned officers

Those who enlisted in the Nigerian Navy as graduates or through the Nigerian Defence Academy are known as commissioned officers.

Their ranks and monthly allocations includes;

Vice-Admiral            ₦1,876,091

Rear Admiral            ₦1,366,393

Commodore              ₦744,570

Captain                       ₦458,074

Lieutenant                 ₦292,494

Sub-Lieutenant         ₦217,459

Non-commissioned officers

Those who entered the Nigerian Navy with a national diploma (ND), national certificate of education (NCE), or senior school certificate (SSCE) are known as non-commissioned officers.

Their monthly salaries and ranks includes;

Warrant Chief Petty Officer   ₦155,655

Chief Petty Officer                   ₦120,572

Petty Officer                              ₦90,254

Leading Seaman                      ₦72,659

Able Seaman                            ₦68,850

Seaman                                      ₦58,005

Ordinary Seaman                   ₦53,851

Trainee                                      ₦10,220
