Nigerian Navy ranks and salary structure, 2024

The Nigerian Navy is the only regulatory body tasked with guarding Nigeria’s economic exclusive zone and its territorial waterways.
There are 18 ranks in the Nigerian Navy overall, split into two groups.
Salary allocation for these categories is based on years of service and educational attainment.

Nigerian Navy Ranks
There are two district cadres within the Nigerian Navy ranks.
The two categories of officers are non-commissioned and commissioned.
Commissioned officers
Those who enlisted in the Nigerian Navy as graduates or through the Nigerian Defence Academy are known as commissioned officers.

Those who entered the Nigerian Navy with a national diploma (ND), national certificate of education (NCE), or senior school certificate (SSCE) are known as non-commissioned officers.
