NSCDC nab four suspects for vandalism, other crimes in Lagos
The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Monday paraded four suspects involved in various offenses that negatively impacted their victims.
Among them was 29-year-old Olamilekan Olowookere from Osun State, who was arrested for allegedly vandalizing a truck he was hired to drive.
According to the NSCDC, Olowookere deliberately dismantled the vehicle and sold its parts as scrap.
He was apprehended alongside two accomplices Abba Idris, a 28-year-old scrap dealer from Kano State, and Ejitunde Wasiu, a 48-year-old vulcanizer from Osun State.
The trio was caught last Monday, January 27, 2025, around 9:00 AM near the Guinness area of Ikeja by an NSCDC patrol team.
In another development, the State Commandant also paraded one Ahmed Hamisu, 28, Adamawa State, who has mastered the act of operating fake payment receipts for online purchases to scam and inflict hardship upon unsuspecting victims and general members of the public.
Upon receiving the first complaints from two direct victims (names withheld) of the above online payment scams by Hamisu and his group, the Command immediately deployed operatives who later got Hamisu apprehended on Sunday, January 24, 2025, at about 4 pm, at Orege Road, Ajegunle, Ajeromi-Ifelodun.
However, men of the NSCDC are currently on the trail of Yinusa, Mohammed and some other members of the group who were still at large at press time.
The Lagos State Commandant, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, while addressing Journalists on Monday at the Command’s Headquarters, Alausa, Ikeja, said that investigation revealed that the suspects often used fake alerts to defraud business owners, intimidate, impersonate with army camouflage uniforms and berets using multiple phone numbers to communicate with their victims.
The phone lines are: 07061467078, 09027162617, 8142648467, 08024686757, 07087007106, 07042963628.
Kenshiro, therefore, urged the general public to be aware of the nefarious activities of online scammers.
He cautioned citizens to desist from transacting businesses with people they have no relationship with, as this might eventually have adverse effects on them.
Keshinro also warned vandals to desist from their evil acts, as the law’s long arms would catch up with them sooner or later.
