The Ogun State government has announced plans to recruit an additional 1,000 TEACh interns to fill vacancies in public schools across the state.

The recruitment exercise is being coordinated by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in collaboration with the State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and the Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board (OGSTVEB).

The Ogun TEACh initiative, known as the Teaching Experience Acquisition Channel, is a special intervention program aimed at addressing shortages in public primary, secondary, and technical colleges. According to Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, the State Commissioner for Education, applicants must hold a minimum of a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or a B.A. (Edu)/B.Sc. (Ed)/B.Ed. with at least a Second Class Lower. Those without education degrees must possess a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education.

Candidates interested in teaching at technical colleges should hold qualifications in Technical Education or Engineering, including B.Sc. in Technical Education, B.Sc. in Engineering, B.Eng., or HND in relevant fields.

The application process will be conducted through the Ogun State Job Portal at www.teach.ogunstate.gov.ng, from October 16 to November 6, 2024. Successful applicants will serve as TEACh Interns for two years, receiving monthly stipends and being deployed to areas in urgent need of teachers.

This recruitment marks the final batch of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s promise to recruit 5,000 TEACh interns, with the first 4,000 interns now being offered permanent teaching appointments.
