A tragic incident in Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, has left an Okada rider dead and three others hospitalized after a truck rammed into a vehicle driving against traffic.

The driver of the vehicle narrowly escaped lynching by an angry mob following the crash.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, which has heightened tension in the town.

According to a Vanguard source, the situation escalated when police officers on duty stopped the vehicle for driving against traffic, and a moving truck subsequently collided with it, crushing the Okada rider, a passenger, and others nearby.

The source said the Okada rider died instantly leading the angry mob to set ablaze the vehicle as he escaped police arrest.

About four others were injured and were rushed to the Oleh Central Hospital and Maranatha Clinic respectively.

Confirming the incident, SP Bright Edafe said, “Contrary to the trending news, it was the Sienna driving against traffic that was burnt and not the police van.

“The Sienna was driving against traffic and police stopped him as to why he should drive one way. As he stopped, an oncoming tipper lost control and ran into the Sienna which collided with the Okada and passengers.” He said

Other sources confirmed that one person died, and three others injured were rushed to hospital. However, the truck driver was arrested by police as the Sienna driver escaped as angry mob set the vehicle on fire.
