Head coach of D’Tigress, Rena Wakama, is elated after her team’s incredible victory over Australia, ranked third in the world, in Lille on Monday.

Coach Wakama was ecstatic about her team’s remarkable victory, beaming with pride at their impressive performance.

The African champions’ 75-62 triumph over the Australian Opals marked a historic moment for Nigerian basketball. D’Tigress demonstrated their skills and determination, outplaying their higher-ranked opponents in every aspect of the game.

With this confidence-boosting win, D’Tigress is poised to make a statement at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

It was Nigeria’s first win at the Olympics in 20 years.

The young tactician heaped plaudits on his players for their resolute display in the keenly contested encounter.

“I have a wave of emotions. I am so proud and excited for this group. I’ve got a lot of girls that are hungry and shocked the world,” Wakama stated.

“We are tough. It’s in our DNA, it’s who we are; we don’t back down and I just want to bring a lot of energy and passion.”

D’Tigress will be up against host France in their next game on Thursday.
