Victor Osimhen was on target as Galatasaray clinched their 25th Turkish Super Lig title on Sunday, sealing the championship with a commanding 3-0 victory over Kayserispor.

The Nigerian striker opened the scoring in the crucial encounter, taking his league tally to 25 goals since joining on loan from Napoli last September.

Osimhen’s contribution proved pivotal in helping the Istanbul giants pull eight points clear of their city rivals Fenerbahce, with just two games left.

Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera converted a late penalty to seal the win, sparking wild celebrations at Rams Park.

The triumph ensures Galatasaray will feature in the UEFA Champions League group stage next season, having led the standings since the third matchday of the campaign.

For Fenerbahce and their manager, Jose Mourinho, it was another season of heartbreak.

The Yellow Canaries, who haven’t lifted the Turkish title in 11 years, finished runners-up for a fourth consecutive year.

Local media suggest Mourinho could now leave the club a year before his contract expires, following a disappointing season that also saw them crash out of the Turkish Cup in the quarter-finals against Galatasaray.

Tensions between Mourinho and Galatasaray’s coach Okan Buruk boiled over during that match, with the Portuguese tactician grabbing Buruk’s face in frustration after the defeat.
