Panic as ExxonMobil staff, police officer dies in Akwa Ibom hotels

The Akwa Ibom Police Command has confirmed the deaths of a former ExxonMobil contractor and a police officer at two hotels in Eket.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the former ExxonMobil staff passed away on Sunday at Villa Marina Hotels after slipping and hitting his head on bathroom tiles.

Meanwhile, the police officer, visiting Eket from Lagos on an official assignment, reportedly died of heart failure at Tevoli Hotels on October 14.

“The former ExxonMobil staff died at the Hotel in Eket, he died as a result of slipping when he came out from the bathroom and fell andhit his head on the tiles,” John said.

John stated that necessary investigations had been completed, and the contractor’s body has been released to his family for burial.

Further details on the identities of both victims were not disclosed at the time of the report.
